Structure of erythrocyte NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase determined

The structure of erythrocyte NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase has been characterized.

"Erythrocyte NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase reduces methemoglobin to functional hemoglobin," scientists in Japan explained.

"In order to examine the function of the enzyme, the structure of NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase from human erythrocytes" was "determined and refined by X-ray crystallography," in a study conducted by S. Bando and coauthors at Osaka University.
