Levan hypolipidemic effects result from altered lipogenic enzyme and PPAR alpha gene activity

Hypolipidemic effects of dietary levan may be due to lipogenesis inhibition and lipolysis stimulation, accompanied by altered hepatic lipogenic enzyme and PPAR alpha gene expression.

According to recent research from South Korea, "Levan or high molecular beta-2,6-linked fructose polymer is produced extracellularly from sucrose-based substrates by bacterial levansucrase.
