Researchers writing in the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology report, "Cocaine consumption can lead to myocardial infarction. Tissue factor (TF) has been implicated in acute coronary syndromes, and the balance of TF and tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) determines initiation of thrombus formation."
