A high incidence of HCV infection previously was reported as responsible for precipitation of PCT and associated liver disease.
Ulrich Stolzel, Free University of Berlin, Berlin, Germany, and colleagues performed a study in a large number of patients with PCT in Germany to investigate the role of HCV and hepatitis B virus (HBV).
