According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 8th International Congress of Mucosal Immunology, held July 17-20, 1995, in San Diego, California, "Immunization of mice with an attenuated Salmonella strain (Phopc) carrying a plasmid encoding HBcAg induced specific antibody responses against bacterial LPS and HBcAg. Different mucosal routes of immunization i.e., oral, nasal, rectal and vaginal were compared. Anti-LPS and anti-HBc IgAs were measured in saliva, genital and intestinal secretions, lung washes and feces.
