According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 35th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, sponsored by the American Society for Microbiology, held September 17-20, 1995, in San Francisco, California, "DNA-based immunization offers an attractive alternative to classical immunization strategies for two basic reasons. First, the longevity of antigen presence may allow strong and sustained immune responses without boost.
