Unusual Serology Pattern Found Among Inner-City HIV Patients

An isolated hepatitis B virus (HBV) core antibody cAb) was found among a group of HIV infected patients from an inner-city HIV clinic.

The unusual pattern of hepatitis B serology detected is associated with hepatitis C antibodies, intravenous drug users, and low weight, but not with a stage of HIV disease, stated A. Andrade, et al., University of Maryland at Baltimore, Baltimore, MD, in an abstract presented at the Infectious Diseases Society of America 33rd Annual Meeting, San Francisco, California, September 16-18, 1995.
