Several studies reported within the last five years have implicated HCV as an etiologic factor in type II mixed cryoglobulinemia, an autoimmune disease with underlying lymphoproliferation, report Salvatore De Vita, University of Bari, Bari, Italy, and colleagues ("Hepatitis C Virus within a Malignant Lymphoma Lesion in the Course of Type II Mixed Cryoglobulinemia," Blood, September 1, 1995;86(5):1887-1892).
