"Higher Values of HBV DNA in HIV Infected Patients."

According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 35th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, sponsored by the American Society for Microbiology, held September 17-20, 1995, in San Francisco, California, "A total of 347 HBsAg(+ve) patients were studied. Elisa and Western Blot analyses demonstrated anti-HIV antibodies in 64 of them. Different groups were established according the HBeAg/anti-HBe pattern. Although the HBeAg(+ve) pattern was more frequent in HIV patients (53% vs 19%), no differences in prevalence of active replication were found between HIV(+ve) and HIV(-) patients with the same HBV markers profile.
