CDC Says Vaccine Can Be Given at Schools

Hepatitis B immunization can be achieved in a school setting with an altered vaccination schedule, according to a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The report was presented at the 1995 Annual Meeting of the Infectious Disease Society of America, held September 15-20 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Adolescent vaccination against hepatitis B is an important adjunct to universal infant immunization programs in a strategy to decrease the incidence of acute hepatitis B, the prevalence of carriers, and the transmission of hepatitis B through traditional risk factors (perinatal, sexual, and sharing of needles).
