Adolescent vaccination against hepatitis B is an important adjunct to universal infant immunization programs in a strategy to decrease the incidence of acute hepatitis B, the prevalence of carriers, and the transmission of hepatitis B through traditional risk factors (perinatal, sexual, and sharing of needles).
