HCV Viremia Correlated with CD4 Count in HIV+ IVDUs

In HIV positive intravenous drug users with chronic hepatitis C, the level of hepatitis C virus (HCV) viremia is inversely correlated with CD4 count, according to a report from France.

Researcher L. Serfaty and colleagues noted that in these patients the apparent severity of liver injury is generally independent of the level of HCV viremia and CD4 count.

Serfaty et al. presented their findings at the 46th annual meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, held November 3-7, 1995 in Chicago, Illinois.
