According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Falk Symposium Molecular Diagnosis and Gene Therapy, held October 22-23, 1995, in Basel, Switzerland, "Recombinant interferon-(alpha) (IFN) has been shown to provide effective therapy in some patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. To determine the predictive value of molecular parameters as HCV RNA level and HCV genotype, pre-IFN therapy serum samples from 28 Styrian patients with chronic HCV infection were studied.
