INF-(alpha) Improved Anti-HBe Conversion in Children with HBV

Treatment with interferon-alpha improved the seroconversion rate of antibody to hepatitis B e antigen (anti-HBe) with or without steroid pretreatment in children with chronic hepatitis B treated in an Italian study.

Although the efficacy of interferon treatment has been well documented in adults with chronic hepatitis B disease, the results in children are less conclusive because most clinical trials have included a small number of patients.
