HIV Influences Risk of Sexually-Acquired Hepatitis

A Moroccan study adds to the growing evidence that HIV infection is a cofactor for the sexual transmission of hepatitis C virus.

In this study researcher S. Benjelloun and colleagues investigated anti-HCV antibody prevalence in several groups in the Moroccan population, and attempted to determine the population(s) at high risk of acquired HCV infection ("Anti-HCV Seroprevalence and Risk Factors of HCV Infection in Moroccan Population Groups," Research in Virology, July/August 1996;147:247-255).
