Group Calls on Prime Minister Regarding Blood Scandal

Four groups of Canadians committed to accountability and openness in the Canadian public health tainted blood scandal called on the Prime Minister for explanations.

Documents were presented which showed that the Canadian Federal government knew about the dangers about HIV and was planning to regulate the Canadian blood supply and protect transfusion recipients in August 1984, but then mysteriously failed to take regulatory action for five years. During this time, hundreds of foreseeable HIV and Hepatitis C infections occurred.
