IFN/Ribavirin Combination May Prevent Graft Disease

A treatment approach combining interferon with ribavirin may help prevent progression of hepatitis C virus-related graft disease after liver transplantation, according to a report from France.

Researcher Thierry Bizollon and colleagues found the combination treatment to be well-tolerated in their group of transplant patients ("New Approaches to Treatment of Recurrent HCV Following Liver Transplantation Using Ribavirin," Transplantation Proceedings, October 1996;XXVIII(5):2842-2843).
