Flutamide-Induced Hepatitis Treated with UDCA

Italian researchers recently reported the successful treatment of a case of flutamide-induced toxic hepatitis using ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA).

"Since fatal flutamide-related hepatitis has been reported, monitoring of serum liver tests is advocated during flutamide administration, and the effectiveness of UDCA in the treatment of drug-induced hepatoxicity requires further study," researcher Camilla Cicognani and colleagues wrote ("Flutamide-Induced Toxic Hepatitis," Digestive Diseases and Sciences, November 1996;41(11):2219-2221).
