According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the First Australasian Conference on Hepatitis C, held March 16-18, 1997, in Sydney, Australia, "On October 1, 1994, the Australian National Data Base was established for patients receiving interferon for Hepatitis C (HCV) under $100 guidelines. We have divided the patients into two groups according to the date they commenced treatment to determine what differences are evident in terms of their demographic data. Group 1 represents patients starting their interferon before July 1995 (first nine months of the program) and Group 2 are patients beginning treatment in the period 1/7/95 -- 30/9/96.
