According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the First Australasian Conference on Hepatitis C, held March 16-18, 1997, in Sydney, Australia, "The possibility of patient-to-patient transmission of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in an operating session at a Sydney private hospital was investigated. The investigation was initiated after the notification that two patients who had undergone minor surgery at the hospital both presented with acute Hepatitis C some five and seven weeks later (these were designated cases B and C). A total of 13 patients had surgical procedures performed in the session and other than the acute cases, anti-HCV testing showed another three patients to be anti-HCV...
