According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 37th ICAAC, held September 28 - October 1, 1997, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, "Pretreatment viral load and response to interferon (IFN) are closely associated and the quantification of HCV RNA before and during treatment is important. We have evaluated 3 quantitative (QT) assays for HCV RNA: bDNA 2.0 (Chiron), Monitor (Roche) and NASBA (Organon Teknika), in comparison with a RT-PCR. The cutoff values of the assays were respectively 2.10⁵, 10³ and 3.10³ copies/ml.
