Chronic hepatitis C is a common and slowly progressive form of liver disease. Nearly 4 million people are infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) in the United States. It is the most common cause of chronic liver disease and is the most common indication for liver transplantation in the U.S. Recombinant interferon alfa-2b (IFN) was approved for treatment of chronic hepatitis C in 1990, but a eradication of HCV was unusual...
