B19 Parvovirus Causes Hepatitis-Associated Anemia

The parvovirus B19 can cause hepatitis-associated aplastic anemia, and may be a previously unrecognized hepatotrophic virus, according to a report from Minnesota's Mayo Clinic.

In this report, researcher Darrell S. Pardi and colleagues presented two cases of acute hepatitis subsequently complicated by marrow hypoplasia in patients with acute parvovirus B19 infection.
