HCV Core Gene Encodes Weakly Oncogenic Protein

The hepatitis C virus core gene encodes a weakly oncogenic protein, according to a report from Korea.

Researchers found the core gene to be just oncogenic enough to transform an established Rat-1 cell line with regard to focus formation, anchorage independence, and tumor formation in nude mice.
