T-Helper Expression Linked to Interferon Response

Both the expansion of hepatitis C virus-specific T-helper cell precursors and T-helper cell recognition of multiple core epitopes appear to be critical to the success of interferon therapy in the treatment of hepatitis C, according to a report from Spain.

The quasispecies nature of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and the antigenic drift of this virus have been proposed as mechanisms for viral persistence.
