HIV Infected Babies Vertically Infected with HCV More Often

Babies who are vertically infected with HIV by mothers who are also infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) have higher HCV infection rates than the norm.

However, HCV transmissions in HIV uninfected offspring of dually infected mothers are similar to those of offspring from women not infected with HIV, according to a report from the New York University Medical Center.
