According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 2nd Joint Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and the International Bone and Mineral Society, held December 1-6, 1998, in San Francisco, California, "Hepatitis C has been recognized as a secondary cause of osteosclerosis. There have been some reports of the use of antiresorptive therapies in this condition with mixed results. We describe here the effects of by IFN(alpha) in a patient with HCAO. A 44 year old white male was referred for suffering from bone pain in the lower limbs for the past 6 months. He had a history of chronic hepatitis since age 18.
