Sexual Transmission of HCV is Uncommon

A study from France adds to the evidence that sexual contact is an inefficient method of transmitting hepatitis C virus.

The study was presented at the 49th annual meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, held November 6-10, 1998 in Chicago, Illinois.

Researcher P. Halfon and colleagues assessed the transmission of HCV viremic spouses using nucleotide sequence analysis and phylogenetic studies. They also examined the value of molecular techniques for epidemiological studies of HCV transmission.
