Hepatitis B Vaccine Is Life-Saving

"The hepatitis B vaccine protects children and adults from serious illness and it's a safe vaccine parents can trust," said acting health officer Dr. Maxine Hayes, Washington state Department of Health.

Stories in local and national publications have drawn attention to the so-called link between this vaccine - as well as other childhood vaccines - and chronic illnesses. Specifically, ABC television's program, 20/20, aired a segment on hepatitis B, alleging that hepatitis B vaccine may not be safe for everyone.

"There is no scientific evidence that chronic illnesses are appearing at higher rates in people vaccinated against hepatitis B," Hayes said. ...
