Endothelial Cells with VEGF Vital for HCC Development

Vascular endothelial growth factor, in cooperation with endothelial cells, is critical in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma, according to findings of an animal study.

The in vivo role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a well-known hypervascular tumor.

H. Yoshiji and colleagues performed a study to clarify the effect of VEGF on murine HCC development in a xenograft experimentation model.
