According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 51st Annual Meeting of the American Association of Blood Banks, held October 31 - November 4, 1998, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, "Background: In March 1997, the Regulatory Compliance Project (RCP) revisions of donor health assessment were implemented. The RCP required a somewhat more standardized method of donor questioning, some additional questions with new deferral criteria such as temporary deferral for any dental visits, and vital signs were added.
