"Hepatitis B and C and HIV Co-Infection: Current and Future Treatment Options."

According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 4th International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection, held November 8-12, 1998, in Glasgow, United Kingdom, "Dual infection with HIV and hepatitis B and/or C virus is quite common. HIV infection together with HCV-infection have been shown to increase HCV-RNA and accelerate the progression to liver failure. In the past HIV infection have in most cases been the cause of fatal outcome. Better treatment options for HIV infection have resulted in prolonged survival giving hepatitis B and C infection more time to progress to end stage liver disease.
