According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 4th International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection, held November 8-12, 1998, in Glasgow, United Kingdom, "The study seeks to evaluate the effect of nucleoside analogue Lamivudine (3TC) on the course of HBV infection in patients with HIV and HBV co-infection. The open-labeled prospective 6 months follow-up study has been conducted. A total of 14 antiretroviral naive HIV patients with simultaneous HBV infection were enrolled. All enrollees were male aged 19-45. All of them were positive for HBsAg, anti-HBc IgM, HBeAg and negative for anti-HBeAg, anti-HCV and anti-HDV.
