HGV is Common in Those Working with Dialysis/Transplant Patients

There is a higher risk of hepatitis G virus infection among medical personnel who work with dialysis and transplant patients than among those who do not, a German study suggests.

Patients on renal replacement therapy, hemodialysis (HD), or after kidney transplantation (TX), are known to be at risk of acquiring blood-borne infections (HBV, HCV). GBV-C/Hepatitis G virus (HGV) has been described recently and is considered to cause blood-borne infections.
