The nucleocapsid core protein of hepatitis C virus (HCV) has been shown to trans-act on several viral or cellular promoters. To get insight into the trans-action mechanism of HCV core protein, researchers from Taiwan's National Yang-Ming University used a yeast two-hybrid cloning system to identify a core protein-interacting cellular protein ("Hepatitis C Virus Core Protein Interacts with Cellular Putative RNA Helicase," Journal of Virology, April 1999;73(4):2841-2853).
