According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 18th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Transplantation, held May 15-19, 1999, in Chicago, Illinois, "It has often been discussed whether the screening of serum tumor markers is useful to discover early tumor recurrence. We studied the relevance of tumor markers in clinical estimation of patients after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) because of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
