HBV Vaccine Inactivity Assessed in Pregnant Women

Obesity, maternal age, and smoking have a negative impact on hepatitis B virus vaccination efficacy in pregnant women.

In this study, C.J. Ingardia and colleagues of Connecticut's Hartford Hospital examined seroprotective antibody response after hepatitis B vaccination during pregnancy. They also assessed factors influencing the rate of maternal seroprotection ("Hepatitis B Vaccination in Pregnancy: Factors Influencing Efficacy," Obstetrics and Gynecology, June 1999;93(6):983(6):983-986).
