HCV Infection Alters HBV Progression

A study from Singapore offers evidence that the course of hepatitis C virus infection is influenced by hepatitis B coinfection.

Researcher Y.M. Wang and colleagues conducted this study to compare hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) replicative states and to determine possible interference between HBV and HCV ("Suppression of Hepatitis C Virus by Hepatitis B Virus in Coinfected Patients at the National University Hospital of Singapore," Journal of Gastroenterology, August 1999;34(4):481-485).
