Study of HIV Positive Homosexual Men Finds Higher Rate of Associated Virus

Homosexual men who are positive for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) have a greater chance of also being positive for hepatitis C virus (HCV) than homosexual men who are HIV negative.

This is according to a study presented at the 7th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections held in San Francisco, California.

The study, prepared by scientists from Canada, attempted to compare the coinfection rate between the two groups of males: those HIV positive and those HIV negative. K.J.P. Craib and co-workers at the Center for Excellence in HIV/AIDS and colleagues at the University of British Columbia selected a random sample of 232 men...
