Binding Protein Stimulates Viral Sites Directed by Poliovirus

Scientists believe that polypyrimidine-tract binding protein (PTB) stimulates the translation of picornaviral and flaviviral RNAs, according to a study published in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

They believe this event occurs in vivo, based on the results of their study ("Transient expression of cellular polypyrimidine-tract binding protein stimulates cap-independent translation directed by both picornaviral and flaviviral internal ribosome entry sites in vivo," Mol Cell Biol, 2000;20(5):1583-1595).
