Researchers Study Tumor Necrosis Factor-(alpha) Regulation

Important research findings suggest that tumor necrosis factor-(alpha) metabolism in alcoholic hepatitis patients is influenced by nuclear factor-kB activity and increased expression of this factor's mRNA.

"Increased tumor necrosis factor-(alpha) activity has been reported in patients with alcoholic hepatitis and is implicated in its pathogenesis," D.B. Hill and associates at the University of Kentucky's Medical Center stated ("Increased monocytes nuclear factor-kappa B activation and tumor necrosis factor production in alcoholic hepatitis," Journal of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine, 2000;135(5):387-395).
