Researchers in Japan used sections of hearts preserved in paraffin to study the relationship between viral hepatitis and various cardiomyopathies.
A. Matsumori and colleagues at Kyoto University said, "The importance of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection has been recently noted in patients with myocarditis and in patients with dilated or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy."
