Interferon Limits Expression of Growth Factor in Hepatitis B Patients

The likelihood that interferon (IFN)-alpha therapy can have a negative impact on growth hormone secretion has been confirmed by at least one study of pediatric patients.

Results of a study conducted by researchers in Poland on the relationship between IFN-alpha therapy and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) suppression in children was reported in Poland at the European Federation of Immunological Societies EFIS 2000 Meeting.
