More Patients Presenting with Lamivudine-Resistant Hepatitis B

According to a research report published in the Journal of Hepatology, medical personnel who take care of patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) are beginning to see more and more patients with viral strains that are resistant to lamivudine therapy.

Lamivudine has been used to treat patients with HBV for several years now. Unfortunately, some HBV virus strains have acquired mutations that make them non-susceptible to the drug that has been a mainstay for treating HBV patients.
