Hepatitis C Virus Rates Persist at Dutch Hemodialysis Centers

Scientific evidence documenting the reasons for hepatitis C virus (HCV) seroprevalence in Dutch dialysis units was recently presented at Renal Week 2000, a major conference hosted by the American Society of Nephrology.

According to a survey conducted in The Netherlands by a research team composed of investigators at the University Medical Center in Nijmegen, Dianet, and Bosch Medicentrum, the HCV infection rate in hemodialysis patients was 2.9% in 1996 and 3.4% in 1998.
