Data Presented on Hepatitis E Vaccine Tested in Rhesus Monkeys

Preliminary data from studies of a 53 kDa protein vaccine against hepatitis E virus indicate it produces an immunogenic response in rhesus monkeys.

Researchers with the U.S. National Institutes of Health and with the companies Novavax and Bioqual, both in Rockville, Maryland, reported their early study findings on this vaccine at the 49th annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held October 29 - November 2, 2000, in Houston, Texas.
