Pegylated Interferon-alpha Therapy Profiled for Chronic Hepatitis C Patients

- by Sonia Bell-Nichols, staff medical writer -- Pegylated interferon-alpha 2b, when taken once a week, demonstrates the same efficacy as thrice-weekly doses of non-pegylated interferon-alpha 2b, a common treatment for patients with chronic hepatitis C, study results indicate.

Tests comparing the two drugs were conducted by Schering Plough Corporation researchers and reported in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
