Interferon Receptors on Liver Tissues are Up-Regulated by Inflammatory Cytokines

Certain interferon receptors are found on cancerous liver tissues as well as healthy liver tissues. Kurume University School of Medicine researchers now say that these receptors are up-regulated by some inflammatory cytokines.

The research, published in the International Journal of Molecular Medicine, examined hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues for HU-IFN-alpha R2, one of two chains that are receptors for type I interferon. According to the investigators, the chain is found in either a soluble, short, or long form.
