Harvard University Scientists Report No Association With Hepatitis B Virus Vaccine

by Sonia Nichols, staff medical writer -- Medical researchers at Harvard University report finding no association between hepatitis B virus (HBV) immunization and increased risk for multiple sclerosis (MS).

Research conducted by A. Ascherio et al. counters previous claims of a link between HBV vaccinations and the onset of MS. "Reports of multiple sclerosis developing after hepatitis B vaccination have led to the concern that this vaccine might be a cause of MS in previously healthy subjects," Ascherio et al. said.
