Cholangiography Best For Differentiating Sclerosing Cholangitis From AIH

by Sonia Nichols, staff medical writer -- Extensive analysis that includes cholangiography is best for distinguishing autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) from autoimmune sclerosing cholangitis (ASC) in pediatric patients.

Although similar biochemical findings can cause both disorders to resemble each other, researchers at King's College Hospital in London report that cholangiography, a radiographic test used to examine bile structures, detects subtle differences between AIH and ASC.
