Investigators at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania studied biopsy samples from more than 20 patients with EBV-associated primarily extrahepatic post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD).
Almost all of the patients showed signs of acute rejection in liver biopsies, with only four of 24 patients demonstrating no signs of rejection, according to investigators.
